Waiting

LYRICS:

I don’t wanna wait to find my love
I had it in the palm of my hands and now its gone
It was sturdy like an oakwood floor
It was pure like a troubadour
I don’t wanna wait to find my love

I don’t wanna wait to find my hero
I’m strong but I need someone to follow where I go
When the winter makes the world forget
And it burns my skin like a cigarette
I don’t wanna be without my love

And you are all I ever wanted and more
And your love is everything I waited for
I swear my heart is an open door
So please, please don’t keep me waiting anymore

I don’t wanna wait to go back home
And it feels like I’m running out of ways to be alone
I think on it every day
But it ain’t every easy to say
I don’t know when I’ll go home

And I don’t wanna wait to find my love
It’s like waiting for the sun to fall down from up above
I can see it in my mind
But if I look to hard I’ll only end up blind
So I gotta wait to find my love

But you were all I ever wanted and more
And your love is everything I waited for
I swear my heart is an open door
So please, please don’t keep me waiting anymore

And you are all I ever wanted and more

Way To Die

LYRICS:

The time flickers like the screen
That sits in front me
It burns to black like my eyes and a scene
Plays out in front of me

A forced and feeble man
Living in the shadows of a half-born plan
Mourning like a widow that last great stand of his
And if that ain’t a way to die
then I don’t know what is

The phone rings and a voice on the other line
Says I am not the one you counted coins for all this time
I am not a ghost
I have no name
I am you and you are I
and we are all the same

A forced and feeble man
Living in the shadows of a half-born plan
Mourning like a widow that last great stand of his
And if that ain’t a way to die
then I don’t know what is

Here's a live performance of "Waiting" from the show for the original release of Redoubt.  My hair is even longer now, if you can believe it...

Some songs I write start out sounding like one thing and then end up in a completely different place by the time they are finished.  This one was originally conceived as more of a straight-up "rock" song (you can hear me beatboxing the drum part in this audio journal) before I shifted gears into the finger-picking style that became the version on the album.
